Teamwork in Language Management with CLM 2021 and WebEdit

Language management requires more than ordinary teamwork, whether for companies or for language service providers: teams of people with different roles need to cover project management, translation, quality assurance and data processing with all the necessary human and linguistic resources. And while many different teams need to share the process environment, each group of clients, PMs or service providers should only see and access the role- and task-specific information of their own group.

She started her >25 years in language technology as a translation manager and CAT trainer. Her commitment to optimization led her to language process design, lecturing, and her current position as Business Development Manager at STAR Group. As an experienced key account and project manager with a focus on customer-oriented and efficient processes, she has successfully mastered EU standards, complex migrations and the implementation of CLM landscapes in the entire field of corporate language management.

Maren Ziani is a certified translator for Chinese and English. Her mother tongue is German. She has been with the STAR Group since 2005 and acted as branch manager for the STAR office in Beijing until 2018. During this time she gained not only profound knowledge of the Chinese language and culture, but also oft he Chinese translation industry.
Since she joined STAR‘s language technology department in Sindelfingen/Germany in 2018, she had the chance to learn more about the technical aspects of the industry and turn into an expert in support, training and consulting for STAR’s language technology tools and to focus on STAR’s MT solutions.

Judith Klein (MA Information Science) has over 20 years’ experience in language technology. She joined STAR Germany in 1999 where she works as an expert in support, training and consulting for STAR’s language technology tools. Her most recent interest lies in STAR’s MT technology. She also supports customer-specific migration projects. Before she came to STAR, she worked in the Language Technology department at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Saarbrücken (Germany).

How does the Transit editor support the translator in keeping the required length limit of the subtitle lines?

Kerstin Froese, M. A., studied English Literature and Linguistics, American Studies and Romance Studies at Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, and at the University of Leeds. She has been a member of STAR Group since 2001. Since 2008 she has been working with the team Support, Training and Consulting. Kerstin specialises in software trainings and webinars.

Having a background in automated productivity and in electronics, I initially started my career in 1985 as a Computer Aided Design (CAD) technician before devoting myself to the field of computer aided translation tools (CAT) in 1994. Since then, and through different experiences of work, I acquired expertise in translation memory systems, terminology extraction tools, terminology management, machine translation, full text, bitexts and project management systems.

In 1994, I founded BridgeTerm (now a Translation Management System) which acted as CAT broker. During my career and over the years, I developed and improved SynchroTerm, a bilingual terminology extraction tool allowing to feed terminology databases from translated documents.

In September 2006, Terminotix acquired SynchroTerm and I joined the team where I occupied the Sales Director position.

In April 2010, I acquired the company through a management buyout process and since then, I am the president of Terminotix. During the last two years, I have conducted research on generating automatically high quality alignments in any language pair in order to feed Neural Machine Translation engines, bilingual concordancers.

Early in 2020 and during the pandemic, I developed a bilingual website search engine called WeBiSearch available for free and for linguistic services. In Spring 2021, I released the Terminotix plugin for Windows allowing to translate from inside any application.

Fleur Schut has a university background in translation and started working for Trados as early as 1997. Although she has transitioned through many roles over the years, she currently holds the position of Business Consultant for the RWS Translation Productivity Division. As part of her role, Fleur works with LSP and Corporate customers both pre and post sales, providing training to customers to ensure they get the most out of their solutions.
