Laila Karlsson is head of the Terminology, References and Computer Aids to Translation Section (STRAIT) at the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, Switzerland. After having completed an MSc in Informatics in Gothenburg, Sweden, she worked as an IT consultant in Sweden for a few years before joining ITU in 2000 as a programmer and supporting the language sections at ITU. She has been heading the STRAIT section for about 10 years, managing, among other things, the implementation of CAT tools and various NMT developments.
