Laila Sjölund is head of the Terminology, References and Computer Aids to Translation Section (STRAIT) at the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, Switzerland. After having completed an MSc in Informatics in Gothenburg, Sweden, she worked as an IT consultant in Sweden for a few years before joining ITU in 2000 as a programmer and supporting the language sections at ITU. She has been heading the language technology support section for about 10 years, managing, among other things, the implementation of CAT tools, various NMT developments, and more recently the use of AI-based language tools, including customized AI agents, RAG and GraphRAG systems.
