Nathalie Foigne holds a background in literary studies in France and began her career in local government before joining the European institutions in 1997. She was appointed to the Publications Office of the European Union as a French language proofreader and became responsible for the French version of the Interinstitutional Style Guide (ISG). In 2000, she contributed to bringing the ISG online, significantly increasing its accessibility as a key reference tool for EU publications.
Since 2017, Nathalie has served as team leader of the ISG Coordination Team at the Publications Office. She manages and participates actively in the team’s work to keep the ISG updated in all official EU languages, collaborating with the 24 linguistic groups and European institutions. The ISG is essential for maintaining consistency, linguistic accuracy, and coherence across multilingual EU documents. Her role involves not only updating the ISG content but also disseminating information, training users, and aligning standards across other EU guides.
Nathalie is committed to promoting the ISG as an indispensable and highly reliable resource. She works to raise awareness among colleagues about the ISG’s accessible, vetted, and validated content, and common standards agreed upon by EU institutions and linguistic communities. Through her team’s ongoing efforts, the ISG remains a trusted reference that supports consistency, clarity and quality across EU communication.

Anikó Gerencsér holds a Master`s Degree in Library and Information Science and a PhD in Italian Literature from the University ELTE of Budapest. Since joining the Publications Office of the European Union she is working in the field of metadata standardisation and linked open data management. As a team leader of the Reference Data team she coordinates the maintenance of taxonomies, thesauri, ontologies and authority lists and their publication on the EU Vocabularies website. Her particular area of interest is the development of controlled vocabularies and the harmonisation of reference data management across European institutions. She is involved in the optimisation of the thesaurus management tool VocBench, particularly with regard to the analysis of users’ needs and the improvement of collaborative and customised features.

Julianna Lang is currently part of a team at the Publication Office of the European Union responsible for coordinating and maintaining the Interinstitutional Style Guide. This role draws upon her background in languages, teaching, and translation. Working as a translator for various EU institutions, strengthened her skills in cross-cultural communication, terminology management, and adherence to multilingual standards.
She is a graduate of Eötvös Lóránd University, Faculty of Arts, Budapest Hungary, and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. This educational background has been instrumental in shaping her approach to language as a tool for promoting clear, accessible language for diverse audiences. She is aware of the importance of maintaining high standards in style and language use, contributing to projects that require linguistic and stylistic precision to ensure consistency across institutional communications.

Liena Muižniece has a background of linguistics, translation and software localisation and testing. She is part of the Reference data team in the Publications Office of the European Union, and is involved in development of controlled vocabularies and harmonisation of reference data across European institutions.
